Whittier Hospital Medical Center Receives a 5-Star rating in the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) Overall Hospital Quality Star Ratings for 2021

Whittier Hospital is among just 7% of hospitals nationwide to receive a 5-star Overall Hospital Rating out of more than 4,500 Medicare-certified hospitals rated. This rating summarizes a variety of measures across seven areas of quality into a single rating: mortality, safety of care, readmission, patient experience, effectiveness of care, timeliness of care, and efficient use of medical imaging.

"We could not have earned this top rating without them." WHMC was also recently awarded an 'A' Grade by th Leapfrog Group for patient safety last Spring 2021.
Hospital Compare (www.medicare.gov/hospitalcompare), a consumer-oriented website that provides information on how well hospitals provide recommended care to their patients, was created through Medicare and Hospital Quality Alliance. The website provides information to the public on how hospitals deliver care and encourages hospitals to improve the quality of their care. The data from the existing measures on Hospital Compare, quality ratings is summarized for each hospital to allow users to easily compare hospitals.
