Critical Care

Greater El Monte Community Hospital boasts a state-of-the-art ICU and CCU. Our physicians, nurses, and other staff are dedicated to providing quality care to patients who are in need of intensive treatment. With a 117-bed facility and advanced equipment, our hospital is well-equipped to treat patients from our Intensive Care Unit (ICU) or our Cardiac Care Unit (CCU).

Intensive Care Unit

Our Intensive Care Unit (ICU) focuses primarily on patients experiencing failures of major systems in their body and, therefore, require constant care and observation.

The ICU commonly treats people who are experiencing the following:

Respiratory failure
Cardiovascular failure
Gastrointestinal failure
Other autonomic body system failure

Whether patients need constant medication monitoring, breathing treatments, or more, the ICU is a place where rapid decisions are made as to the treatment of a patient. Many patients are closely monitored in the ICU following surgery, especially if there is a risk of complication.

Cardiac Care Unit

After a patient is admitted to the hospital with a heart attack, the patient is generally moved to the CCU. Patients who have undergone heart surgery may also be moved to this location. Our highly specialized staff are trained in providing treatment and care of patients with various heart conditions.

We commonly treat patients suffering the following conditions:

Heart attack
Chest pain
Left ventricular failure
Heart arrhythmia

Our specialists carefully monitor the symptoms and progress of our patients in the CCU. Experienced physicians, nurses, and other medical staff oversee the care of all of our patients.
